Mine definitely has to be the stalks on the column. They are metal, they are beefy, and they make a satisfying click when you use them.

Kinja'd!!!

What are yours?

The hilarious yet very functional steering wheel buttons and stereo equalizer. Also all 185 torques being buried right where they’re the most fun leaving traffic lights at half throttle.

1 for regular pressures

1 for maxium comfort

1 for maxium comfort with full a load

1 for sustained speeds above 100 mph

and 1 for sustained speeds above 100 mph with a full load

quite the humblebrag

A Gov-lock is a diff that has a rotating flywheel with teeth cut on it, and a couple of different cams(or governors) and actuators. It is supposed to work like a posi at all times, and a locker when tire speed is equal. Key words being “supposed to”. In reality, when the cams try an actuate, they tend to lock into place quickly, causing a grenaded LSD and a now-open rear end. It’s safe to say that I won’t have a gov lock for much longer.

The two small orange LEDs in the overhead panel behind the map lights in my ZHP. They provide just enough light to see the base of the center console and shifter area. Its so subtle most people don’t even realize it at first.

AFAIK, they are in all BMW’s. I know they were in my e36, and Ibelieve they were in my e30 too, but its been so long I can’t remember.

when the wipers are on in my ‘06 passat, and you stop at a red light, they will automatically stop “wiping” continuously, and instead stop and wipe every five-10 seconds, and automatically go back to continuous wiping once you start driving again. also the ambient lighting, and the red-blue interior lighting color. also how the tach is by 10s and stuff, just like in Bentleys. I also just love this dash in general

Locks:

My XJ8 unlocks the trunk and the gas tank whenever the doors are unlocked, which is super convenient.

It also has a button in the center console to lock and unlock the doors, rather than a door mounted button.

It also has really wonderful sort of Easter eggs:

Holding the lock button with the doors locked will roll down all of the windows and the sunroof. With the doors unlocked, it does the reverse, which is super convenient when you’re getting on to a highway and want to roll up the windows.

It does the same thing with the windows when you lock/unlock the driver’s door and hold the key in position, which is great since it allows you to get out of the car with the windows down and then roll them up.

The super short throw shifter, it’s a Talon/Eclipse shifter actaully, the Galant’s is about 4 inches longer for easier, more relaxed throws.

Also one of my least favorite things is the blinker stalk. when signaling left it doesn’t “click” in and sometimes pops back into the middle position without warning. you really have to make such it’s locked into place.

Your door pic made me think, if one of the handles ever breaks, the metal ones from the 1980's trucks bolt right in. They are the same casting, just one’s plastic and the other is metal. I know this because my friend went to Autozone twice in one week to buy one because his kept snapping, and the guy behind the counter let us in on this little secret.
